Youthfest Presenters
Pastor Steve Broome
Pastor Steve Broome is the associate pastor at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in McMurray, about 25 miles south of Pittsburgh. He grew up in a town called Northumberland, in central Pennsylvania, along the Susquehanna River, about two blocks from the home and laboratory of Joseph Priestley, who discovered oxygen. His grandparents' house was right across the street from the Priestley house. When he was 15 years old, he went to Youth Convo. Then he went to some other events, got some training, and he has been planning and leading retreats and events ever since. He really enjoys working with kids of every age. Pastor Steve said, "It's fun to be able to work and play at the same time... and to get paid for it, too."
Pastor Craig Hess
Pastor Hess grew up in Pennsylvania. He was a Pastor at St. Marks, Jeannette and Holy Trinity in Southwest Greensburg before going to Glade Run where he served as a chaplain and a psycho therapist. After serving at Glade Run, Pastor Hess moved to First Lutheran Church in Greensburg Pa. He currently serves as a Prison chaplain through SCI Somerset with the PA Department of Corrections. Pastor Hess is perfect for this position. He has a great way of helping people understand theology by tying it into every day events.
Shawn Smith
In addition to serving at Youthfest as our resident musician, Christian singer and songwriter Shawn Smith will share a message at one of our event's Large Group gatherings. (more about Shawn ...)
